Wow, four and a half days left in July. This is unbelievable! :) Even though I'm not in a hurry, I am glad that things are moving along at a decent pace.

I know it's early, but I am really starting to get excited about Christmas. I don't know why, but it just seems really special to me this year. The last couple years I dreaded our Christmas productions at church--the time spent preparing for them, etc.--but this year I'm actually a little excited about it. If I weren't pregnant, I might find myself counting down the days until October 1st. That's our very own family holiday--it's the first day we listen to Christmas music, and we enjoy it together as a family. Right now, I'm too busy counting down to Bethany's birthday and my ultrasound!

I received a happy surprise in the mail on Saturday. My new work-out dvd came early! I tried it today (it works out better for me to switch my order--Vol 2 on MWF and Vol 1 on TuThSat). I love it! It is a little challenging at first--this is not your typical, hold the pose for an hour (it seems like) yoga. But it's doable. The only moves (in beginner format) that were really very challenging were the planks and side planks. Those she does have you hold for a while. Overall, I am very pleased with the work-out. It's about 34 minutes long, and is excellent at reducing back pain. I also like that I got a decent work-out without getting super-sweaty. People looking for more traditional, hold the pose forever type yoga should look elsewhere. Doing this work-out today made me even miss my hour and a half of P-90X Yoga. :) After the baby's born, I just may have to try that again. :)

I am finally craving veggies again! I am so grateful for this (and hope it sticks around) because lately, veggies have been a turn-off. I was fine with them if they were cooked in something, but I didn't want to make them myself, etc. I know I wasn't eating enough veggies, but I think I'll be able to get them in now. :)

I got some cantaloupe on sale at Winn Dixie this weekend and I have really been enjoying it. Yum. :) I LOVE fruit, but I get stuck on one or two kinds and then burn myself out on them...so it's always nice to find a replacement.

I slept well (for the first time in a week) last night! And thanks to the girls sleeping in, I got to sleep until 8. :) Miracles still happen....

Well, it's lunch time (then nap time!), so I better get going. Hope to hear from you all soon!

Misty :)

I ordered Volume Two! It's supposed to be here Monday. That's perfect for the schedule I've set out for myself. The first week, I did Vol. 1 once, twice the second week, and this week the goal is three times. I've done it twice so far (just finished for today, in fact). My goal was to integrate Vol. 2 on the Vol. 1 off days, so I'll have it for Tuesday. :) Yay. :)

I feel so much better knowing I'm doing a real work-out that will not only keep me in better shape, but also prepare me for what is to come. It's not all been peaches and cream this pregnancy, but this one has definitely been a lot better (so far) than the first two.

I am starting to get a little nervous about my u/s. I know that we'll be happy with either a boy or a girl, but so many people have been saying "boy" that you can't help but get your hopes up. And although we'll be perfectly happy with another girl, I know that there will be a bit of a letdown at first if we discover that this baby is not a boy. And what if the baby doesn't participate at all and we don't find out? (Deep breath.) I know it will all work out just as it's supposed to, but I'm still a little nervous. :)

I am getting so tired of eating. I feel like I'm eating all the time. And it's hard to keep a balanced diet because veggies don't sound so good right now. I'm eating some, but not enough, and I feel awful for that. I need some new recipes. Easy ones, that don't take long to make.

Well, the girls are about ready for me to put on Higglytown Heroes for them, so I better draw this to a close. Where is everyone? Hope to hear from you soon. :)

Misty

*Edited to add: I just looked at my poll and three of you have voted boy so far. :) Let's hope you're right. :)

I was reading a pregnancy update today, and it said that this is the part where it seems to go quickly and crawl at the same time. They sure got that right! It is going quickly, but I still have so far to go.

Three more weeks until the baby can hear sounds outside of the uterus. My mom will be excited to discover this as she firmly believes in talking to the baby before it's born. I have to say though, Olivia did seem to recognize her voice, so I imagine it works. :)

Bethany's fourth birthday is two weeks from today. I remember when I was carrying her--how in the world did the last four years go so quickly? She is very excited about her birthday, but she is even more excited about seeing the baby "on the special machine." :) I think she's possibly even more excited about the ultrasound than I am...and that's saying a lot.

People at church are still asking me every week if I know what the baby's gender is. I sure hope that the baby will participate! Then we can announce it from the pulpit (there advantages to being the pastor's kid/grandkid), and I won't have to answer quite so many questions...I hope. :) Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're so excited...I just get tired of questions ALL the time. :)

Word to the wise: Adopting a dog when you're pregnant is a bad idea. We adopted a puppy a little more than a week ago, and it just did not work out. Fortunately we have some friends adopting her from us today. And they will be a much better home for her than us.

I love my new work-out dvd! It's volume one of two, and I can't wait to get the second volume. It is a real work-out--formulated for pregnant women--and I am really enjoying it. In case I forgot to mention it before, it's The Perfect Pregnancy Work-out, Volume One. The mommy who does it is in GREAT shape (she should be--she used to be an acrobat with the Cirque du Soleil in France). Her name is Karyne Steben, and she's awesome. Volume One is strength training and birth prep (Kegels and a Keeping Up exercise designed to help you learn to focus). Volume Two--which is done by Karyne's sister Sarah--is mostly yoga. I don't know much beyond that since I don't have it yet, but I hope to find out soon! These dvds are about $20 a piece on amazon.com, but they are worth the investment.

Well, I did get the poll up yesterday, so feel free to vote! I can't wait to see the results.

Have a lovely week!

Okay, so I posted twice in one week, but then I missed a week! Oh well, here I am. :)

I am 15 weeks along today. I have three weeks and two days until my ultrasound, and I can't wait! When I finish typing this, I plan to post a poll--boy or girl--so you guys can get your guesses in. :) If I forget, someone please remind me in the comments section! We only have three weeks (if the baby participates), so I need to get it up before it's too late. :)

I can feel the baby move now--have been able to for a little more than a week. It's fun, but it's still such a tiny feeling that I think I often fail to notice it when things get busy. Not for long though--I remember feeling feet in my ribs by the end of my pregnancy with the girls! (Well, some body part in my ribs, anyway.)

I have to go for now, but I'll try to post again soon.

Wow, twice in one week! Can you believe it? :)

I tried out my new pregnancy work-out dvd today--well, part of it, but back to that in a minute--and I loved it! It has a great instructional segment that is about 11 minutes long, and then the work-out itself is about 40 minutes, I think. I'm not positive because I couldn't finish it. You see, there are three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. After watching the instructional segment, I thought advanced was definitely the level for me. Unfortunately two months of inactivity renders me on the beginner level. After about 20 minutes, my leg muscles (mainly my quads) started spasming (sp?) painfully. I stretched my legs and stretched out on my bed for nearly an hour (the girls were watching Beauty & the Beast), and now I am almost back to walking normal. My legs will be sore tomorrow, but the good news is, once I recover, if I keep working out, then I shouldn't get super-sore again. At least not my legs. But I'm definitely going to start at the beginner level next time.

The strange thing is that I felt great through all the exercises--didn't feel like I was overdoing it at all--until I reached the upper body portion. That's when my legs started to spasm. It was NOT pleasant, but I survived, and I look forward to trying out my dvd again next week. Maybe Saturday, but I doubt it since we have a LOT to do on Saturday. The way our schedule is right now, July will be over before we get a chance to realize that it really is July!

Kidz@Nite went well last night. The first night was better, but not every night can be the very best. :)

I'm glad that I will finally be able to do a satisfying, but safe, work-out now. It helps me feel better about myself--and it gives me the willpower to cut back instead of eating whatever I want, whenever I want. Pregnancy tends to give me this "I deserve to eat this" kind of attitude--and that's one I can't afford to keep if I want to keep off the extra pounds. And by extra, I mean the ones that I don't need to gain for the baby's sake. :)

I'm going to keep it short today--after all, it's lunch time and my tomato sandwich is calling my name. Yummy. :) Now, if only I had an avocado for homemade guacamole....

Monday, July 6, 2009

Anyone else weirded out by the fact that it's already six days into July? Didn't we just celebrate New Years? It seems that each year goes by more quickly than the last. Yikes.

I have a follower! Yay. :) Marti, do you have to have a blog on blogspot to be a follower? Cause I know that a lot of people have asked me for the link to my site a couple times (which isn't a problem, but I think it'd be easier for them if they could subscribe or something). Does it send my post to your e-mail?

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Ours was decent. Yesterday was fun. I was exhausted all day, however, because someone in our neighborhood decided to shoot off fireworks from 1-2 am--and half of them sounded like gunshots. It was quite disturbing and prevented sleep for quite a while. But yesterday afternoon we went to someone's house and went swimming in their pool, and it was a lot of fun! I think Olivia is going to be quite the little frog eventually. :)

I am currently enjoying the second day of my second trimester. I can't believe I've already come so far! It seems like I was just finding out I was pregnant not that long ago...and now I'm a third of the way through! Anyone else feel like this is flying? I have a little more than a month until my u/s. Wow.

I am feeling pretty good. Still a little on the tired side, and definitely experiencing occasional twinges on my sciatic nerve, but pretty good overall. Morning (or all day, really) sickness has been gone about two weeks now, and it's nice to feel pretty normal. :) And now that I'm feeling good, I'm also feeling the need to work-out! It's been about two months since my last real work-out, and I crave it as much as I crave ice cream (which is a lot)! :) Fortunately, the pregnancy work-out dvd I've been wanting is due to arrive on Wednesday. It's a work-out dvd designed for mommies who are already work-out fanatics/athletic/etc. like me. :) I'm not athletic, but I love to work-out! It's strength-training, too, so I am really looking forward to Wednesday! For now I'll just have to use my stationary bike. :) But don't worry, folks, I'm not trying to lose weight while pregnant--just trying to avoid gaining more than I need to.

I am hungry almost all the time. I've been eating a lot of fruit to try to keep up with that without packing on the pounds, but of course, fruit doesn't stay long in your system. But at least it's sweet, and that helps some with my sweet tooth. Some. :) My metabolism seems to be set higher than ever before because I start to feel hungry shortly after eating most times. Maybe that means a boy? Who knows. After all, Trav is always hungry and can eat tons and tons without gaining an ounce...perhaps this little one will be like him. :) Unfortunately, I gain weight very easily. But at least if I'm working out, eating more will not be a problem.

Marti--I noticed that you commented about the belly-rubbing on my last post. I hate it. It's one thing for close friends or family to do so--or someone else if I invite them to--but it's MY body, and I don't like to be touched. Personally, I find it very rude--I wouldn't touch someone else's body if they weren't pregnant...me being pregnant does not give them permission to touch mine. But I can't bite their heads off either, so I try to find a way to pull away without seeming rude, or I just grin and bear it. But no one says I have to like it. :) I'm happy that Stef ended up not minding, because I think that would be easier, but I'm sure I wouldn't be the last to nominate Stef for sainthood anyway. ;) Well, except that she's too cool to be a saint. :)

In my last post, I said that Pixie wouldn't eat her chew things...the very next day, I found her chewing on one. I didn't read my post aloud to her, but somehow she found out, I guess. :) But dogs--and children--generally tend to make us out to be liars. :) Just like Bethany did last night when I told my mom that she doesn't like watermelon. But I think that had more to do with The Rule of Nana: I will eat anything off Nana's plate if Nana feeds it to me. But if anyone other than Nana offers it, I will despise it for life.

Feel free to ask me questions about my pregnancy--this blog is about my pregnancy, so no worries. The only questions that are officially banned:

1) Do you know what you're having yet?
2) How's the baby? etc.

My u/s is August 11th, and the baby and I are exactly on speaking terms yet, so I can't tell you. Unfortunately, we've not been able to figure out the whole telepathy thing yet either, so until the baby's born, I will not be able to answer this ridiculous question. :)

Other than that, I think we're good. I, however, reserve the right to add more questions to the banned questions list at a later time if it so becomes necessary. ;)

One more thing, and I must go for today. I gave up on the "sweets only once a week" thing a long time ago...I just keep forgetting to post about it. That said, I'm doing my best not to go crazy on them either. I've been getting Skinny Cow treats to help keep my cravings under control without going overboard. Although I do sometimes get a random craving for gummie bears (which I have yet to give in to) and those sour night crawlers (gummie worms) that you can get at Wal-mart for 97 cents a bag (which I have given in to). :) Yum.

Have a lovely day, and a lovely week, friends!

Misty :)

P.S. Feel free to keep commenting. :) This is fun! :)
