I can't believe we're half-way through August already. Time goes so quickly when you have small children!
Tomorrow I will be flying to Arizona. I have two flights, so I hope that I will not get too very nauseated. I usually do okay with one, sometimes two, but any more than that, nausea is guaranteed--and that's when I'm not pregnant! The taking off and landing parts are the hardest for me. Especially if the a/c isn't working well in the plane. But I'm sure I'll be fine. It will be nice to spend time with my sister and her fiance--but I will miss my family. Especially Trav. It's so hard to leave him after what happened a week ago, but I know that me staying here won't make him any safer.
He went back to work today. He's doing fine. He said it was hard at first to get in the truck, but he's alright now. Thankfully today is a shorter day for him. I think him going back to work may actually be tougher on me than him! Waking up without him this morning was kind of depressing after having him home with me for a week. But I'm glad he's doing well enough to be back at work today. The last thing I want is for him to suffer.
Mackenzie is getting stronger every day. I'm looking forward to the girls, Trav, and my mom being able to feel her move. I am not looking forward to people (other than close friends and family) touching my belly though. Somehow, I will survive. ;)
I don't know if I will update at all while I'm in AZ or not...but I will be sure to update when I get back! Have a great week. :)

Well, we're having another girl! Mackenzie Brennan. :)
I thought I'd feel a little let down to discover we're having another girl, but I didn't at all. Trav and I both are very excited about her. :) Bethany is a bit upset, but I think she'll be okay once MB is actually born. :)
On a different note, Trav is not doing so great. He has moments that are fine, but he's really struggling. Prayers are much appreciated. He did sleep well last night, and his appetite has been fine so far--so thank you for the prayers that already went up!
Love to you all.

Most of you will have already read this on facebook, but I'm copy/pasting it here for my non-facebook readers. I may add some stuff at the end though, so feel free to scroll down if necessary.
Travis works for Waste Management. Every work day, he goes out with a partner, and they take turns driving and slinging trash/recycling/yard waste into the back of the truck (depends on the route as to what they are picking up). This morning, Travis and his partner arrived on their route and discussed who would start driving, and who would sling. Out of selflessness, Travis offered for his partner to sling first, while it was still relatively cool outside, and then Trav would sling later in the day, when it got hotter. They picked up one stop and went on to the next. As Trav's partner was picking up the second stop, a truck (not WM, a regular truck) slammed into him and the truck Trav was waiting in. Travis' partner died. This is not Trav's regular partner--he's been shuffled around a little bit the past couple weeks--so we don't know much about the guy or his family (or at least I don't--Trav only had a few minutes to call and let me know the basics of what happened and that he was okay). Travis walked around to the back of the truck, where he saw his partner. I don't know what shape his body was in, but Trav said that seeing it put him into shock.
There is absolutely no way that the accident was Trav's fault--in fact, marijuana was found in the other truck--but he has a lot of red tape to climb through because of the accident.
I cannot tell you what it's like to realize that were it not for the selflessness of my husband this morning, he would be dead. I think I am a little in shock myself (not medically), but I am grateful that God spared Trav's life, and my heart breaks for whatever friends and family this man had.
We knew when Trav took this job that it was one of the top five most dangerous jobs in the U.S., but to have something like this happen just blows you away. God is giving me peace--although I'm still a little shook up about it--but Trav needs peace even more than I.
Obviously we are not telling the girls as they are too young to understand, but they are likely to be a little confused this week. Trav has been given the rest of the week off paid (after he finishes hurdling the red tape), and has experienced a traumatic event. The girls are very perceptive and may notice things are different, even if they don't understand why.
Please be praying for Travis, most of all, as well as for me and for the girls. Pray for peace, comfort, and strength. Pray that Trav will not experience nightmares, and that neither of us will suffer from anxiety or stress as a result of this accident. Please also pray for the friends and family of the man who died.
Thank you, my friends and family for your love and support at this time.

P.S. Forget about petty frustrations. Little things that irritate us become nothing when you realize that you could have lost them.
And now, my addition.
Today is a weird day. I'm kind of in a haze right now. I didn't even realize that I hadn't brushed my teeth this morning until about quarter to eleven! Needless to say, I brushed them once I realized. I've had a few different phone calls from concerned family, and it's wonderful to have their support. I'm really looking forward to the girls' nap time so Trav and I can get some rest. He should be coming home soon, and I'm looking forward to him being here.
The baby's been kicking a lot today. Between the little kicks and the accident this morning, I am reminded over and over of God's grace and love--and the life that He so freely gives us. I may get frustrated with Trav at times, but I don't know what I'd do without him. I can't believe how close I got to losing him today.
God is giving me His peace, but it is a bit of a struggle sometimes. Of course, hormones make the situation even more crazy, but I'm doing okay. Trying to stay calm so my bp doesn't spike. I have to remind myself sometimes to breathe, but I know that God is good and I am so grateful that He spared Trav's life.
I love my husband and am SO glad that he's alive.
The u/s is tomorrow, so if you haven't voted yet, be sure to get your vote in my tomorrow. I think the poll closes at 3, but it's been a while since I set it up, so I'm not positive.
Take the time today to think about your priorities. Is it really so important that your spouse not leave their dishes in the sink when the dishwasher is less than a foot away? Is your life what you want it to be? We're not promised a single day--or even a second. If you left this world today, what would people have to say about you? And if you lost someone you love, would you regret things you've said or didn't say?
Thanks for reading.

Only a few more days until my u/s! I can hardly wait. :) I looked at my poll and so far you guys are almost split down the middle, with five voting boy and four voting girl. :) Hopefully the baby will participate so we'll find out!
I am so exhausted. I don't sleep well until Trav gets up for work, so I only get a few hours of real sleep each night. Last night he and Pixie (our dog) were having a snoring competition...it was miserable. I was almost tempted to stay up a few more hours, but I knew I would not be able to make it through today if I did, so I stayed in bed--tossing and turning until I finally fell into a restless sleep. But this won't be forever! I just get so claustrophobic when I'm pregnant....
Bethany stayed dry all night long last night! This meant several trips to the bathroom, but it was worth it. She is so proud of herself, and of course, we are very proud of her as well. I have a big kid on my hands now!
The book that I mentioned last time is great! So great that I'm going to order the next one--Eat, Play, & Be Healthy. It's about nutrition for kids. The one I just finished was very practical and made it seem a little easier to eat a balanced diet. I'm looking forward to reading the kid one and eventually the adult one.
Trav is getting really burnt out on his job, so we're starting to look into him eventually going back to school. We just have to figure out what he wants to pursue! So prayers for wisdom and direction are much appreciated. :)
I better get going for now. I didn't work out yesterday, and even though I really don't feel like it this morning, I don't think I should miss it. Have a lovely weekend!

Today is Bethany's fourth birthday. Ouch! I remember blogging when pregnant with her! Well, okay, so it's a very dim memory, but still...time goes so quickly. She is getting to be such a big girl. One more year and she starts school! Where did the time go?
One year ago today is the day Olivia went in an ambulance to the hospital for febrile seizures. Scariest day of my life. Even just typing this makes my heart tie in knots and nearly brings tears to my eyes. She and I spent nearly a week in the hospital, but she has not had a single seizure since that week. Thank God for that!
In other news, my u/s is one week from tomorrow! I am so excited and I can't wait to find out what we're having. I hope the baby will participate because, to be honest, I'm getting tired of people 1) asking if I know yet, and 2) telling me that they know it's a boy. It's great if it's a boy, but right now we just don't know that, and it just gets a little old. I don't mean to be a total cranky pants, but having SO many people ask the same questions all the time is just a little tiring. Especially when they ask week after week after week...you get the idea.
Yesterday I experienced my first (this pregnancy) attack of the belly-rubber. I just ignored the fact that she was doing it, but I can guarantee you this--I will not be able to tolerate this the entire rest of my pregnancy. I may be pregnant, but this is still MY body--don't touch! (This excludes, of course, my family and very close friends--most of which aren't near enough to touch anyway.) Why do people think that a woman's pregnancy is a license for them to do and say awful things they'd never do/say at any other time? Don't worry, I'm not getting on that soap box again today. :)
I also threw up for the first time this pregnancy yesterday. And unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the toilet lid up quickly enough, so it went everywhere. Yuck. But I cleaned it up, finished getting ready for church, and was only running 10 minutes behind! I think that's pretty good considering the circumstances. :) And now I know that while puking with braces isn't pleasant, it isn't as bad as I thought it would be either. :)
I managed to work-out four days last week (two days/dvd), but I think that's about my limit. Not saying I'll never work-out more than four, but it just doesn't seem likely. Life is just too busy with two little girls. But we'll see. :) Four days isn't bad.
Got a new book this last week--The Harvard Medical School Guide To Healthy Eating During Pregnancy. I've read the introduction so far, but that's all I've had time for since I received it Friday. It seems like it will be a very interesting read, but I'm thinking maybe I should wait to read it until after the last of Bethany's birthday ice cream cake is gone. ;) Just kidding. I can't wait to read it! :)
I am super-tired today. I've been working really hard on cleaning my house since Thursday (my allergies needed it, and so did the house). I did the intense deep-cleaning--which wasn't much fun--but it's great to have a really nice, clean house! Trav and the girls helped out some too, so it wasn't just me, but I did most of the work. :) I also made Bethany's ice cream cake and homemade limeade for B's birthday. Add to that shopping, cleaning the church, and being involved in ministry at church on Sunday, and you get one very tired Misty. But a happy Misty too. :)
I better get going for now. Hope to hear from you all soon!
